Method
Combine the whisky, amaretto, and lemon juice in a shaker.
Fill the shaker with ice. Add a dash of bitters if using.
Shake hard for 10 to 15 seconds — until the shaker is properly cold and frosted on the outside.
Strain into a chilled coupe, or over a single large cube in a rocks glass. A twist of lemon peel, expressed over the top, finishes it nicely.
